Lead UP Malaysia is a non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering leadership, diversity, and empowerment in communities across Malaysia. Founded on the principles of inclusion and equity, Lead UP Malaysia focuses on uplifting marginalized groups through innovative programs and initiatives aimed at building resilient and inclusive societies.
At the heart of Lead UP Malaysia’s work is its Community Service Center, a hub for empowerment programs tailored to meet the needs of women in underserved communities. The center offers free sewing classes, digital upskilling workshops, and other hands-on initiatives designed to enhance economic independence and personal growth. These programs aim to equip women with practical skills and digital literacy, enabling them to access new opportunities and improve their livelihoods.
With impactful campaigns like the Sayangi Diri initiative, which addresses health literacy, cancer awareness, and mental well-being, and platforms like Garaj Komuniti for socio-economic development, Lead UP Malaysia continuously strives to create sustainable change.
Through collaborative efforts with local and international partners, the organization is at the forefront of advancing leadership development and promoting equal opportunities. Lead UP Malaysia envisions a future where every individual has the tools and confidence to lead meaningful and impactful lives.
Our vision is to create a society where every individual, regardless of background or gender, has access to opportunities that foster personal growth, financial independence, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to society. This vision aligns with both the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Malaysia MADANI principles, including:
We are committed to:
The LEAD UP Community Centre focuses on community outreach, offering vital support to underprivileged families. It provides skills-based training programs such as free sewing classes, entrepreneurship workshops, and vocational training aimed at empowering individuals, particularly women, to achieve financial independence. The centre also runs holistic empowerment programs like the Malaysia MADANI Menjahit Program, designed to help women gain sewing and entrepreneurial skills, fostering economic opportunities and contributing to poverty eradication.
SayangiDiri is a flagship health empowerment campaign by LEAD UP MALAYSIA, dedicated to raising awareness and educating individuals on crucial health issues. This program encompasses HPV Awareness, which stresses the importance of vaccination and early detection to prevent cervical cancer; Know Your Lemons, a breast cancer awareness initiative teaching women self-examination techniques; and Memperkasa Minda, Menyemai Jiwa, a mental health initiative that creates safe spaces for conversation and provides mental wellness resources. Together, these programs promote holistic health empowerment, encouraging individuals to prioritize both physical and mental well-being.
LEAD UP MALAYSIA advocates against domestic violence by offering resources, support, and awareness campaigns to protect vulnerable individuals. We collaborate with Rumah Perlindungan Sosial, a shelter dedicated to supporting women and girls who are survivors of domestic violence. Through this partnership, we provide advocacy, assistance, and empowerment resources, helping survivors rebuild their lives in a safe environment. Additionally, we lead community fundraising initiatives to ensure the shelter has the resources to continue offering essential services, including shelter, counseling, and rehabilitation programs.
The LIFT program is designed to nurture and develop community champions by providing training in leadership, inclusion, and talent development. Through this program, we identify individuals with the potential to lead community-based projects and provide them with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to make lasting social impacts. LIFT creates a pipeline of empowered community leaders who advocate for diversity, inclusion, and social justice at the grassroots level.
Focused on empowering women in political spaces, Run-2-Win provides leadership training, campaign strategy workshops, and mentorship. This program equips women aspiring to political leadership with the tools and confidence needed to run for office, thus encouraging more women to take part in governance and decision-making roles.
